منطقة عين السبيل
يرجع سبب تسمية المنطقة بهذا الاسم لوجود عين مياه قديمة تسمى بعين السبيل. ويرجع تاريخ المنطقة إلى العصر القبطي.
تضم المنطقة أطلال مدينة متكاملة طمرت الرمال منازلها بحيث لا تظهر إلا الأجزاء العلوية من الجدران، غير أنه يمكن تبين التخطيط العام للمنطقة بشوارعها ومنازلها. وقد أسفرت أعمال الحفائر عن ظهور آثار ثابتة مثل الكنيسة وأطلال بعض المنازل، بالإضافة إلى آثار منقولة مثل العملات والأوستراكا.
وتتبع المنازل التخطيط القبطي الذي يتميز بوجود درقاعة تتوسط المنزل ويفتح عليها غرف معيشة، بالإضافة إلى وجود غرف ملحقة مخصصة لتناول الطعام والتدفئة، ويستخدم سلم للصعود إلى الطابق الثاني.
أما الكنيسة الموجودة فهي على الطراز البازيليكي، وتحيط بها بعض الغرف التي استخدمت لخدمة الكنيسة والقلالي الخاصة بالرهبان.
