City of Kasbah
The city of Kasbah has bee metioed i aciet historical sources sice the secod half of the fifth cetury AH. The city’s history exteded to the Ottoma period. Its plaig ad architecture were domiated by the defesive walls of the huge wall surroudig the city, as well as the thickess of the walls ad the lack of widows ad opeigs, Withi the city.
The ruis of the old wall are very high ad iflueced by the Roma ad Coptic architecture to a great extet, but below it was built with stoe, while the upper part was built of mud bricks; it follows the characteristics of early Islamic architecture.
The city is crowded with the ruis of buildigs ad houses that were ofte built o two floors. The remais of the walls highlight the craftsmaship of the Muslim architects i the oasis of Dakhla at the time.
The tow’s private cemetery is located i the east ad cotais idividual burial grouds, with the mausoleum of Sheikh Abdul Daim.
